1/31/10 DAREDEVIL YOUTH RACERS SET TO INVADE CANAAN ASPHALT SPEEDWAY IN 2010
2010 is going to be a year of changes at Canaan Fair Asphalt Speedway in Canaan, New Hampshire, and one of the big changes will be the inaugural season for the Daredevil Youth Racers at the Speedway.
“Daredevil Youth Racing will become a valuable part in the growth of the track, stated new General Manager, Dick Therrien. These kids will become the future of racing, and that is very exciting! We monitor the growth of this division extremely carefully so that it becomes a great learning experience for the youngster, as well as a good experience for parents and the Youth Racer teams.”
Daredevil Youth Racers ages will range from 10 to 14 year olds. There will be several driving schools for the kids to teach them the proper skills that they will need to become great racers in the future. “It is so important to not allow any pressure to be put on these kids as they embark on their racing careers, explained Therrien. Each youngster will develop at their own pace, and will become better and faster as they become more confident, and comfortable. We will have two divisions if the numbers allow, and they will run features only for most of the season. There are no points or purses, just trophies for the top three. The reason being is that we stress respect and sportsmanship, and not over-zealous competitiveness that money and points generally cause.”
The Daredevils is an extremely affordable division as they run the same rules as the Bandits. This allows the car to be used by more than one person with just an adjustable seat in place. The Bandits are CFS entry level division, and constructing a car is very affordable.
Final rules and information will be posted in the near future on our website, www.canaanspeedways.com. For more information you can also call Dick Therrien at 802-274-8823 or e-mail the track at dprdick@myfairpoint.net.
1/25/10 Dear CFS
Outlaw Mini-Racer,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the drivers that responded to the recent survey. As you all know your surveys had to be returned to me by 1/22/10.
First off I am highly disappointed that more people did not respond to the survey, especially since there was a self addressed stamped envelope enclosed in the mailing. This was an opportunity to help salvage the division for 2010. The survey was prompted by a couple of teams that stated hardly anyone was planning on running regularly in 2010. I am not a person to let grass grow under my feet, so I decided to go directly to you, the racers for your results.
The following is the results from those that returned the survey: 2 Drivers said YES, I will be competing full time. 1 Driver said NO I will not be competing full time. 1 Driver said he is planning on running a few races. 1 Driver is unsure if he is racing or not. 1 Driver said NO, he is racing on the dirt in 2010.
Only six surveys out of fourteen mailed were returned.
The results show that there is very little interest in this class at CFS. As a result of the survey, the following decision has been made:
The Outlaw Mini’s will not be competing as a regular weekly division in 2010 at CFS. Rather than drop the division entirely, the Outlaw Mini’s will have a six race schedule. The dates of these events will be announced in the near future.
If, after the first race, the number of cars is extremely weak, than we
will drop the division entirely.
Since this division is going to be racing only part time, you will be able to compete in another class at the track, plus the Outlaw Mini’s for 2010. We will once again review this class at the end of the 2010 racing season. If significant interest appears, we will look at its return for 2011 and beyond.
We are very sorry that it has come to this, and we hope this class can be salvaged.

CANAAN FAIR SPEEDWAYS
TO
ACCEPT MAJOR
CREDIT CARDS IN 2010 Race fans and race teams alike will be receiving an early Christmas present for the 2010 racing season at the Canaan Fair Speedways. The management has made arrangements to accept debit and credit cards at both the front gate and the pit gate for the 2010 racing season.
New CFS Asphalt General Manager, Dick Therrien explained “That with today’s economy, fewer and fewer people have and use cash. So many people use their debit cards instead of cash, that it only makes sense to have this service available to our customers. Also when money is tight some weekends, being able to use their credit card to pay for their admission fees, allows families to still enjoy their favorite sport! This service will be a welcome addition here at Canaan.”
CFS will accept VISA, Mastercard, and Discover Card starting December 15, 2009. Starting December 15, 2009, you may order and pay for licenses and slabs right over the phone by calling Dick Therrien at 802-274-8823., or Wally Brown at 603-632-7788.
